N45658 Annual 2001 - Day 5

Day five complete. I can actually start to see things coming together here. I was getting pretty worried about taking things apart night after night and not getting to where anything was ready to go back together again. Today I put the Imron on for my lunch break at work. It went real easy and flowed just beautifully. Unfortunately, we have quite a bit of airbourne dust so I ended out picking some of it up before I could get it to a "dead air" area. After dinner my wife and I went to the hanger and started by vacuuming the plane. We then removed the floor boards and was dumbfounded with how much dirt and grime we encountered. We spend the rest of the night cleaning out the area under the floorboards and all of the controls. I had just a little play in each of the control sticks and found it simply to be just about two flats loose on the top bolt. The controls are all smooth with no slop and no "noises" coming out of the pulleys. Tomorrow is panel assembly, vacuuming the tail cone areas, and painting the interior posts. This has been a lot of work but I really am starting to feel good about it.

The instrument panel is now completely cut, cleaned, etched, and epoxy primed.
I stripped the existing paint from the mag switch and have primed it. It will end out painted the same color as the panel with the lever being black
The sub panel is also ready to rock and roll through priming. I hate to admit it but I screwed up. If you look closely you will see the two center, bottom holes with a cut to fit an altimeter. OOPs!
All of the miscellaneous panel parts are ready through priming. Tomorrow will be sanding, washing and Imron time.
Well here it is and I AM HAPPY!
The screws are not in yet but the handle is painted. The markings are yet to come.
Ready for assembly

It's hard to go wrong with friends watching over you!
